A little room
in my backpack.
Hi, I’m Alex, the founder of SPROOVIA. I love drawing, anime, and listening to people talk about the characters they hold close.
This story starts when I was in high school.
After watching Laid-Back Camp, I fell in love with camping. I would load up my electric scooter with bags and gear and head out on solo camping trips. Along the way, I often found myself thinking: I wish Rin Shima could come with me.
Maybe as a plush tucked into my backpack, or a little charm attached to my keys. Just having her along would have meant a lot.
I looked online, but the prices and shipping costs were more than I could afford at the time. So I put the idea aside.
Later, I started learning to draw. I created my own characters and mecha designs, and that feeling returned: what would it be like to have someone I’d only ever seen on a page here beside me?
Finding the right maker was harder than I expected. I needed someone who would accept a one-off commission, understand the design, and make it well within my budget. Sometimes the price was out of reach. Sometimes the quality left me unsure. Searching took time and energy—and even when I found a studio, one question remained:
Would they understand
the details that mattered to me?
That question is why I started SPROOVIA.

Every detail you care about
has a reason.
The expression, the eyes, the hairstyle, the clothes—even a tiny accessory can be part of what makes your character feel like themselves.
You don’t need to know how to model in 3D or describe everything in technical terms. You can start by telling me about your character: their story, their personality, and what makes them special to you.
I may not always be the best with words,
but I’m here to listen.
My role is to help turn those ideas into clear references, communicate the important details to our partner studios, and be honest about what each craft can achieve. Where something needs a different approach, I want us to work through it together.
I want you to spend less time searching and explaining, and more time looking forward to meeting them.

Behind SPROOVIA,
there’s me.
SPROOVIA brings characters a little closer: custom cotton dolls made with partner studios, and outfits for the dolls already by your side.
I run SPROOVIA myself. I look after the website, answer your emails, choose our partner studios, coordinate custom projects, and handle order support. When you reach out, you’re talking to me—Alex.
Choosing outfits starts with my own eye: the colours, shapes and small details I’d want for a character I love. I also look at a supplier’s sales history when deciding which pieces to offer.
I’d love to hear what you’d like to see in The Doll Wardrobe. Have a style, a piece or a supplier to suggest? Send me your idea. Your suggestions help shape what I look for next.
I may not always reply straight away, but I’ll take the time to read what you’ve shared. If there’s a problem with your order, I’ll work with the studio or supplier to follow it through. You won’t be left to sort it out on your own.
I’m building SPROOVIA patiently: a place where the details matter, a long-awaited character can come home, and their next outfit can feel just as personal.
